Le Phénix : Enfin, le retour du train au Liban !

As a Lebanese living in Paris for the past 3 years, I’ve been observing my daily life to find out what’s missing in Lebanon. I wondered what would encourage the diaspora, to which I belong, to return home. What could soothe their distress for a Lebanon that no longer exists? This is how I came to identify a subject at the crossroads of progress, decline and Lebanese identity: transportation. More than just a means of getting around, it’s a symbolic issue that bears witness to the turbulent history of a country that suffers from a real lack of efficient public transport. So, how would the creation of a railway network lead to a flourishing future for Lebanon, highlighting its cultural identity? This long-awaited train would be a true engine of renewal, as a poetic metaphor for the Phoenix rising from its ashes. It would cross Lebanon from one end to the other, narrating its story and culture and providing it with freedom and power, whic his ancestor was not able to achieve. The stations, designed as spaces for encounters and reflection, would pose poetic, historical and cultural questions to travelers, inviting them to immerse themselves in the soul of Lebanon. The multicultural audience, of all generations, would include residents, the diaspora and tourists eager to discover Lebanon. The universe would be both functional and sensitive, immersive and trilingual. The client would be the Lebanese State through the OCFTC, and European and Chinese investors.
